Optima Health had a good product and a hard market. FDA-registered, Eurofins-tested supplements manufactured in the United States — entering Bangladesh, where "imported from the USA" is a claim shoppers have been burned by often enough to ignore. The founders wanted a store. What they actually needed was a way to be believed.
What the research turned up
We interviewed nineteen supplement buyers in Dhaka and Chattogram. Every single one described the same routine: check the seller, check the packaging, ask someone in a Facebook group, and still assume a real chance of counterfeit. Price was almost never the first objection. Provenance was.
That reframed the whole build. We were not designing a shop. We were designing an evidence trail that happened to accept orders.
Designing for proof, not persuasion
Every trust claim on the site is attached to something a sceptic can open. FDA registration, Eurofins batch testing, Certificates of Analysis, cGMP compliance — each one is a document, not a badge. The trust strip sits directly under the hero because in testing, that was the point where people decided whether to keep scrolling.
We also cut the launch catalogue to five formulations. The instinct was to open with twenty. Five products with complete documentation converted better than a wide range nobody could verify.
In a low-trust market, a document beats a testimonial every time.
Pre-orders as a financing instrument
Rather than importing stock and hoping, we designed the launch as a no-payment reservation. Visitors could reserve a product in two taps with no card details, which removed the risk from their side and gave Optima real demand data before committing capital to a shipment.
The reservation flow deliberately asks for one extra field: which product you actually want next. That single question turned the pre-order list into a demand forecast, and the second production run was sized from it rather than guessed.
Where it landed
4,200 reservations in the first six weeks, 6.8% conversion on the landing page, and zero paid acquisition in month one — the list was built through organic and community channels because the proof was shareable. The first import was fully subscribed before it cleared customs.
